A Decade, or a Lifetime
Remember us? You might be thinking, "Do I know these guys?"... It's certainly possible that you do not remember us! It's been that long.
Today is an anniversary. Perhaps not monumental, but a memory that prompted a trip down memory lane, and I thought you might enjoy it, too.
December 12th, 2015 (12/12 @ 12:12) we hosted a release party for our most recent album, Even More. It had been a decade since we'd recorded and published any music prior to that, and it has now been another decade since that event.
Making music seems like another lifetime to me now! Just after that album was released, we purchased an old farm about half an hour from where we had been living, and we became farmers. We got a dog. We bought some chickens. We even purchased two baby calves and learned what it meant to raise animals for food.
And while music has continued (our youngest daughter Emma is overflowing with music!) life began to fill up with many other things. Hockey, horses, finding/purchasing/maintaining vehicles for many drivers. Then there were marriages, grandchildren, aging parents... saying goodbye-for-now to one parent.
Just like you, life moves along, and we move with it.
I have been reading through Paul's letters recently, as part of a chronological daily Bible. He reassures his readers that even through all the difficulties (for him, even to near death) we have a hope and a joy that far exceeds those. That message, Be thankful always reverberates in my heart right now.
There are many hard things my family and I are walking through right now. But I'm sure that's no different than you. I hope today that this email, and perhaps the music we made over the past three decades* might draw your heart toward thankfulness, and more directly, toward Jesus. In all of life, the best times and the hardest times, he is with us, and he is for us. (One of my favorite things to remember from scripture: since we know he is for us, who can be against us?)

We don't have any new music (... yet?) but all of the music we have recorded can be purchased directly from us at basicmm.com or anywhere you can buy music. And since no one really buys music anymore, you can stream it anywhere music can be streamed, too!
I thought about making a fancy thing here, but in that there are many other things to tend to here today, I'll just get you the list of links I put together to help you find our music again, and listen to as much as you would like or are able.
* - We recorded Another Road Trip over just a couple days in December 1995, album released in January 1996
