All good things must come to an end. (Or, at least, it's something like that...) This is the final episode of basicmm radio. Thanks for joining us on this experimental journey! It's been really fun! I've learned a lot about podcasting for sure, and just had a ton of fun digging through the basic archives. I hope you have enjoyed it too! :-)

This final episode is larger than most because I figured we should go out with a bang! So you get a full HOUR-LONG EPISODE! We received a tape from a concert we did this month in Clinton, NY (Resurrection Assembly of God), and there were some holiday tunes on there, and a bunch of other stuff that came out pretty OK... so I figured, why not! You'll get the full experience of a basic concert! It is a 42.9MB file, though... so sit back and relax as it downloads. :-)

There are too many songs to put the lyrics and links to iTunes here, so if you want to buy any of the songs (that are available) on this program, just click the link below to go to the iMix I created with ALL of our songs on it:

All the basic songs...

And for lyrics, go to: basicmm.com/music.

Thanks for listening! We'll keep this page up indefinitely, so send friends to catch the reruns as the years go by.

(Maybe we'll be a big hit in syndication...)

:-)Gregtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14549834.post-1133539626986843982005-12-02T11:16:00.000-05:002005-12-02T11:19:03.870-05:00Interview with The Original basic Band
We have a SPECIAL EDITION of basicmm radio for you today!

Thanks for checking out our podcast, and subscribing to this feed! We're glad to have shared these songs with you this year, and the stories behind them! Fun to relive all that with you.

Due to many contributing factors, we will no longer be releasing new versions of the show after the 3rd Friday in December. (So, including today, two more shows.) We will leave this site up indefinitely, so feel free to check back and listen to any shows you may have missed!

Thanks again for listening!
See ya out there!

We have a busy month of special days (birthdays and anniversaries) and we have been doing more gigs than normal, and we are going on vacation next week... so, lots to do.

For that reason, this show is shorter than usual, and strangely, the song is quite applicable to our current whirlwind of life! We recorded the old hymn, The Solid Rock this past February in Harrisburg, PA at the PCTC (the Pennsylvania Christian Teen Convention). Actually was a pretty decent recording, and I love the version of the song. The band filled the song out nicely!

We do not have a link to the song in iTunes, but you can purchase the whole PCTC 2005 CD for only $4.95 through our website! Here's a link to that page: http://basicmm.com/store/music.html. In our lives, finances have often been so tight that they truly test our faith in God to provide. That has been the case over the last months, and was definitely true when I wrote the song, Faith To Be My Eyes.

The song was recorded through a little 4-channel 80-watt power amp to a cassette deck two years ago on Nov 21, 2003. So, the audio quality is not great. The song is a great reminder for me to trust what I know about God, rather than what I see around me. That's harder to do sometimes. But we know that He does not change, and that allows us to "walk by faith, and not by sight". The lyrics of the song are below.

Faith To Be My Eyes has not been recorded on a studio album yet. It is slated for a future release currently title, "Reach". There are no concrete plans for when that might be released. After 2007, I'd say. So, you can enjoy this pre-release version for quite some time. :-)

As always, thanks for listening. We recorded a live show at Chesapeake Coffee Company in Victor, NY (a now-defunct coffee house) with a gathering of friends that made for a fun night. (listen for some great back-up vocals on Called Out Ones!)

The interesting thing about the songs chosen is that they are the only two songs that I wrote in 1998. That was quite a break from the norm at that time! There were a lot of changes in my life that year, and so somehow I only wrote two songs, and both during the same week of camp in PA that summer! Crazy!

Both songs are available for purchase on iTunes, click the links below to go directly to that song at the iTunes Music Store. (must have iTunes software installed on your computer. That's why it was such a cool work of God that we ended up doing music full time! It wasn't something that I clung to, or that she wanted at all, and yet God made it clear that was where he wanted to use us. Amazing.

Scriptures referenced here in this podcast: Eph 1:3-5, and Rom 7:15-25.

Jen wanted me to point out that we discovered we were pregnant in April (or so) 1998, he was not born until Dec of 1998. :-)

The camp mentioned was actually in PA. (View the cover art below... it's amazing.) :-)

I made an error on the podcast. I said that the song was written in 1995. It was actually written in 1994! Crazy. That's a long time ago. The words are still true. The song is still cool. Mostly. :-)

So, here are the lyrics, and the album art. I hope you enjoy the song. There are many factors, but let's just say it seemed to be a good decision.

Instead, we'll now be posting a new edition of basicmm radio on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month. (Today being the 1st Friday) :-)

So, if you are not subscribed via some podcast software, please check back on or shortly after those days. :-)Gregtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14549834.post-1122589167329719962005-07-29T00:01:00.000-04:002005-09-02T00:43:36.110-04:0010th Anniversary - July 23, 1995
Hi everyone! Welcome to the second edition of the basicmm radio podcast! Last week we were celebrating an anniversary of sorts, and so we thought it would be good to continue in that since 10 years ago this week (can you believe it!?!) was the first official public concert for the group known as "basic" (or Brother and Sister in Christ, then).

So, buckle your seat belts and hang on for a wild ride down nostalgia lane! :-)

The songs included here are:

:: The Road Ahead - Another Road Trip (1996)

:: One Voice - Another Road Trip (1996)

Click the iTunes button to go straight to that song in the iTunes Music store and purchase the song for $0.99 or the whole album for $9.99!

We had so much fun digging into the archives for this podcast, that we are even going to post some photos from that day! Now, these are screen captures off of a VHS tape that's 10 years old... but... you'll get the picture...

HA! :-)

Don't forget, you can subscribe to this podcast and receive automatic updates through the new iTunes 4.9 at the following link:
basicmm radio

We also put a little donation button on this page to the right. If you are so inclined, we have made it so that you can easily donate to this cause and others (like our gas tank...) through the magic of PayPal! :-)

Enjoy the podcast, and we'll see you next week!

Photos

Greg

Tara

Greg & Tara

Todd

Seth

Darren

Gregtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14549834.post-1122007963852556032005-07-22T00:52:00.000-04:002005-09-02T00:44:07.136-04:00OneWelcome to the first official edition of basicmm radio! We had a couple warm-up versions, and made sure everything was working in the iTunes Music Store and now, we're ready to go!

The song this week is called "One" and was initially written for our wedding, and then first performed for some friends at their wedding. The story is included in the track this week. That will be the general idea of this podcast. Story, background, song. Simple!

We'll include the lyrics for each song as well.

Enjoy!

One (1997-2001)
Written for our wedding, sung at our friends Daron & Meilssa's wedding - 4/1/01

Today we join our hearts as one
And another life in God's begun
By the union of our hearts and souls
In the loving way our God has shown
They will call us one

It's a mystery, the words of Paul
That complete in God, amazement grows
Two lives alone, content in Him
Now joined as one, we stand amazed at Him
They will call us one
They will call us one

chorus
One life - to live for Him
One love - that comes from Him
One heart - to show for Him
One place it all begins

Lord, we ask that you'd protect us
From the things that would distract us
From the great responsibility
Of showing everyone Your love for them in us
They will call us one
They will call us oneGregtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14549834.post-1122007177249839252005-07-22T00:39:00.000-04:002005-07-22T00:39:37.253-04:00Some IntroductionsBefore I post the first official basicmm radio broadcast, I just wanted to share some brief factoid kinda thoughts, for any listeners who somehow happen upon this podcast page.

Each week we'll offer another free song from the woodwork that you might not have heard and that is not readily available elsewhere. Something mined from the vast treasure of material which we have recorded at various and sundry locations about the country. (One such recording you'll probably get to hear was recorded in a bathroom. Nice.)

Due to the nature of the songs posted here, you're not going to get the highest quality production. :-) But, that's part of the fun. If you want great production, you can get our songs at iTunes, or purchase straight from our store.

The music I chose for the intro/outro is from some friends of ours who now go by the name Ellery, but at the time of the recording of the song I used they were named Dividing The Plunder. So, I am not sure who exactly to credit, but it's the title cut from the DTP album The Ordinary. The album is fantastic and well worth your purchase. Click the album title to purchase their CD at CD Baby.

We'll try and put together a show here every week. We'll see how long I can keep up that pace! :-)

Thanks for stopping by! We are officially in the iTunes music store, so visit our link there (below) and subscribe to our podcast so you don't miss a single, exciting episode!!!
