Happy Anniversary!!! April 2006 marks the 10th anniversary of our debut album, Another Road Trip. Greg and his sister, Tara, in collaboration with Matt Carswell (drums), Bryce Davis (guitar/piano/vocals), and Todd Earnst (bass) created an 11 track project in a span of just three days! Amazing! The album was so much fun to produce, and to this day we are singing songs from that project! If you've heard us in concert, you might recognize songs like, What You Say, and In The Mirror, or As I Hear Your Voice, and Is There No Other Way?. Some great songs on Another Road Trip, for sure! I had toyed with the idea of actually doing a re-issue of the album, where we really pulled out all the stops and made the songs 10 times better for the 10th anniversary. But, due to time contraints (and money constraints!) it seemed better to choose a different way to celebrate! So we decided to make it fun and easy to grab a copy of the CD (or cassette, if you prefer) for anyone who did not already have one. (Or, for anyone who wants another one?) For the 10th Anniversary celebration of Another Road Trip and basic's debut... For a limited time, we're selling Another Road Trip for 10 CENTS!!! Yup! Just $0.10. We just ask that you cover a reduced shipping fee of $2.99 (regular rate is $4.00) and limit your purchase to one per household. That's it! Happy anniversary!!! |

So, I must confess... after a little research this week, I found out that what I have been saying for years now - that Another Road Trip was released in April 1996 - was not correct! :-( Really, the CD hit bookstores (well, it hit one bookstore...) on February 27th, 1996. We did our big album tour in April of 1996. (I think we had about 6 events that month.) :-) So, my apologies for not finding out earlier, but I figured we'd stick with the original game plan and do our celebration in April still. One last thing... This is NOT an April Fools joke!! :-) Click through to the store and check it out for yourself! Thanks for supporting basic for 10 years. Pass on a copy of Another Road Trip to a friend, or replace your worn out copy. It's on us. Mostly. :-) Book Update I believe I have mentioned that I have been working on another book, similar to A Journey Shared, released in the spring of 2005. Well, in the process of putting that book together, I discovered that it really is two books! There is some overlap of thematic content, but in general, one book will be similar to A Journey Shared, and the other will focus on one theme: The Church. I'm excited about this! It will be neat to have the books remain shorter and easier to read, and also to have a focused emphasis in the second book. The first book, similar to last year's book, will be called "Life In The Rear-View Mirror", and the book about the church is called, "There's The Steeple... Here's The Church: Selected Thoughts On The Various Manifestations of The Church. Both of the books will be culling most of their content from things I have posted to my blog page, but I have done some extensive rewriting, and added a few things here and there. We're getting close, so you can likely expect to hear an official release date by the next time I send this newsletter! One more thing here, if you are interested in helping me publish these books, just send me an e-mail to greg@gregshead.net. The cost of publishing two books is double the price of just one. (Did you catch that?) :-) So, any help would be appreciated. So the progress looks good! Stay tuned and we'll let you know when one or both books are ready for purchase! Personal Update You heard in the previous update about our new baby girl. Just thought I'd let you know that Mom and Julia are doing great! She's three weeks old today, and Grandma and Grandpa are coming over for a little three-week-birthday party. (Not really, but it's always fun to celebrate anniversaries...) :-) Julia is weighing in at almost a pound over birth weight, and all is going very well with the things babies do. I am also recovering. I sprained my ankle pretty badly on March 22nd, and I am still trying to recover. I have a cool, pronounced limp. Especially going up and down stairs. :-) That can be a hindrance when chasing after three tiny kids! Thankfully, Julia is not that quick yet. So aside from a few bumps and bruises to go around, we are doing very well, and loving the new addition to our family! Thanks for your prayers, and other support. It is very much appreciated. :-) Quick Tidbits
Thanks so much for your support. We hope you'll celebrate Another Road Trip with us by playing your copy a time or two this month, or purchasing a 10-cent copy or two for friends and family. OR, if you've never gotten one, what better time? Happy 10th anniversary! Thanks for your support over the past decade!
