Coming Soon To A Location Near You... It's true! We've been singing a bunch this summer, and have several New York gigs coming up very soon... including THIS FRIDAY! We'll be singing in the Village Park here in Palmyra, NY on July 28th at 7:00pm.
Friday, Jul 28 - 7:00pm - Palmyra, NY We are part of a summer-long series of open-air concerts in the Village Park on Main St in Palmyra, NY. It's sort of a continuation of the August Concert Series that we have organized over the years, so it was nice to get an invitation to sing. We'll be singing for about an hour and a half this coming Friday, so pack the lawn chairs or a nice big blanket and come enjoy an evening with basic! Time: 7:00-8:30pmSaturday, Aug 12 - 7:30pm - Palmyra, NY In what is becoming an annual event, we'll be setting up and singing for a couple hours again at Chill & Grill here in Palmyra! We'll even be joined by Sound Mind again, whom we met and shared the evening with at last year's Chill & Grill night. It's a great little ice cream (& other stuff) joint, whose slogan is "That's a SMALL?" :-) You can figure out the size of their portions by that, I'd imagine. :-) Definitely a fun place to hang out, and all the more with a night of music with basic and Sound Mind! Time: 7:30-9:30pmSunday, Aug 13 - 10:30am - Honeoye, NY We got a call recently from a church that is an offshoot of Crosswinds (where we helped lead worship for three years) asking us to come lead the music for a morning, and we agreed. The day they picked is August 13th. Their service time (from the website) is 10:30am, but be sure to come early for coffee and danish at 10:15! :-) If you are available, and would like to join us, we'd love to see you out there! Time: 7:30-9:30pmSunday, Aug 20 - 10:30am - Hamburg, NY Jen's Dad has been asked to preach for the morning worship service at the Erie County Fair just outside of Buffalo. And he has asked us to come lead the music for the morning, and sing one of our songs for everyone there. (It's good to have connections...) :-) Did you know that the Erie County Fair is the second largest County Fair in America? (I think the largest is in L.A.) Wellll... you wouldn't want to miss that, now, would you? :-) Come on out for some good ol' County Fair fun (i.e. animals, fried dough, rides, and more) and a Walker family worship service. :-) Time: 10:00amThat's about it for now. I'd look for some more events to start cropping up around the end of November, beginning of December. But there's a few events for our NY friends and neighbors. Report From The Road 
Well, as I mentioned, we have been busy traveling so far this summer! Some of it has been visiting with family, including some family reunions with family we'd never unioned with in the first place. (Does that make it a Family Union?) The trips also saw us singing at the Fairmount Christian Church Vacation Bible School program in Virginia - leading worship for the teens again (the 6th year in a row), as well as a "reunion" with Greg's sister Tara at her church, and a repeat visit to the church where Jen's parents were married in Hopedale, OH. Quite a whirlwind of a couple weeks!(That photo is from the VBS in Virginia, of me along with our stand-in bass player, Joe Thompson!) It was our first extended traveling with baby Julia, so that was interesting! But, she's a trooper, and all went very well. Glad to see many familiar faces out there, and looking forward to the rest of the summer's events listed above! GregsHead Bookstore: Two New Books! 
The books are here! I'm so excited to finally be able to say that! They represent a year's worth of writing, and almost six more months of editing work! It certainly has been a time-consuming process, but I hope it will be well worth it!Life In The Rearview Mirro: Reflections on Life Lived (June 2006) Life In The Rearview Mirror is a collection of stories and thoughts on life, much like A Journey Shared before it. It's an easy read because most of the chapters are 2-3 pages long, and you can pick up and read as much or as little as you like. It's a good coffee table sorta book. In fact, in one description somewhere, I said it reads a bit like a conversation with a good friend down at the local coffee shop. :-) This book is also available from the publisher, iUniverse, in Adobe eBook format, for $6.00. There's The Steeple... Here's The Church (July 2006) This book is essentially a chronicle of the thought processes God has brought us through over the past year or so regarding the reality of his kingdom and his church. I am excited to get it to folks, to encourage them, and perhaps for God to use the stuff he has had me thinking through to open hearts and eyes to the greatness of life in His Kingdom. Do you go to church looking to connect with God and with people, and find that you often leave feeling like you missed out on that very thing? Do you feel like maybe there's more to life with God than what happens in your local church buidling? There is! Jesus spoke of worship being transcendant of a time and place (John 4) and that is true of his church as well. The church was never meant to be located to a time, or a building, or a service... it's the people who belong to Jesus! We are his body, the family of God. The church is so much more than we let it be, and in this book, I explore all sorts of things that God has opened my eyes to over the past several years. This project means a lot to me, and I hope you'll find encouragement from a fellow traveler within these pages. We published this one on our own, so that we could keep the book price down. We have definitely been in a different stage with basic at the moment, but I am sure there is more music to come! There are some recording plans in the works for maybe even this fall, and we'll be singing several times over the next couple weeks.
